Why Patient Satisfaction is Now Crucial For Hospitals

Why Patient Satisfaction is Now Crucial For Hospitals One of the surprising impacts of the Affordable Care Act has been expanded weight on specialists and clinical staff to improve persistent commitment. As installment choices move and care systems expand, patients wind up enabled to request notâ â€Å"just† the best clinical consideration, yet additionally a caring bedside way, also. Shefali Luthra over at MedPageToday noticed that clinical focuses across the nation are organizing specialist persistent communications and stressing empathy just as a quest for analysis. â€Å"Under a 2010 wellbeing law, Medicare installments to emergency clinics can be influenced by quiet fulfillment surveys,† as indicated by Luthra. Moreover, the consideration cost trouble on patients drives them to rely more upon inclination than on restricted options. The exploration of Tim Vogus, partner educator of the board at Vanderbilt University, found that clinical establishments empowering doctor responsiveness nowâ requireâ doctorsâ to take s ympathy instructional classes, catch individual insights regarding patients in their graphs, and practice little follow-up signals like a transcribed note or call-all which improve understanding experience.A key bit of this creative practice is obviously being available to accepting criticism if patients never get an opportunity to assess a doctor or her training, in what capacity will they realize what to improve? The University of Rochester Medical Center conveys a month to month criticism pamphlet and gives specialist to-specialist peer instructing, which allows specialists to transform arrangement conversations into a discussion rather than a by-the-book exchange.Patients who feel that their primary care physicians are genuinely contributed are bound to take medicine, hold fast to suggestions, and timetable follow-up arrangements and techniques. What's more, the more undivided attention a mindful doctor practices can lead, theâ more precise judgments and responsive medicines ha ppen. Methods of Government, explained by Mr. Lao Tzu Free Essays

Mr. Lao Tzu, I am happy to compose this letter to you and I wish you to remain healthy. Acting naturally intrigued by the craft of state administration I was unable to neglect to be moved by your extraordinary works. We will compose a custom paper test on Strategies for Government, clarified by Mr. Lao Tzu or on the other hand any comparative theme just for you Request Now Rationalists with such significant perspectives as you have are uncommon, along these lines, craving to additionally contest certain thoughts regarding government and organization I have discovered nothing better than to compose this letter to you and consequently welcome you to conversation. If you don't mind acknowledge this letter serenely for what it's worth because of a thinker, for I have not wished to challenge your astuteness, yet just to share a few perspectives which I have acquired by means of long periods of battles and threats. My most genuine want is to have an exhortation with you since truth is sprout in conversation. Thereto let me go to my contention. In your well known Tao Te Ching you compose:  â€Å"If you need to be an incredible pioneer, you should figure out how to follow the Tao. Quit attempting to control. Relinquish fixed plans and ideas, and the world will administer itself[1].†  I respect this contention yet I put it in a little other manner for I imagine that it is smarter to be courageous than careful, in light of the fact that fortune is a lady, and she should be beaten and dominated[2]. That what you call â€Å"Tao† I use to call Fortune. Fortune is something what we can not control, however we can profit by it. Each ruler has a Fortune, however not every one of them are lucky, in light of the fact that some of them can profit by fortune and others are definitely not. Furthermore, to profit by Fortune one needs to feel it and require exertion to get each conceivable essential outcome from fortunate occasions. That’s why I state that Fortune adores youthful. The youthful can all the more likely feel it and they are quicker in utilizing it. Utilizing your terms I can say, that Tao streams without anyone else outside of our will. The person who feels the progression of Tao and moves with it will win[3]. In any case, so as to win he needs to move toward the path he needs just utilizing Tao on the grounds that on the off chance that he moves with Tao he will lose his point of sight and will be a detainee of conditions. Another bit of your composing which stood out for me is: â€Å"If a nation is administered with resistance, the individuals are agreeable and legitimate. On the off chance that a nation is administered with constraint, the individuals are discouraged and shrewd. At the point when the will to control is in control, the higher the goals, the lower the outcomes. Attempt to satisfy individuals, and you lay the foundation for hopelessness. Attempt to make individuals good, and you lay the preparation for vice.[4]† I concur with you altogether that a ruler is consistently a model for his subjects, nonetheless, I might want to see, that administering just by model is an excessively ambiguous reason for power. There are consistently individuals who don't acknowledge any ethics and who are happy to topple even the absolute best ruler, in any event to have his spot. So I imagine that aside from model a ruler is to rouse love and dread to the individuals, and at that dread is a higher priority than adoration, since affection is changeful and doesn't rely upon ruler’s will, and dread is an instrument which is consistently accessible for a ruler[5].â Moreover, I accept that a ruler is to cause fiendish and disregard ideals now and again. I mean those indecencies without which he may scarcely spare the state; on the grounds that, in the event that one thinks about everything admirably, one will find that something that seems an excellence, whenever followed, would be his ruin, and that some ot her thing that seems a bad habit, whenever followed, brings about his security and well-being[6]. You talk about adoration and dread not as of strategies for administering, yet as of ruler’s characteristics when you compose that â€Å"When the Master oversees, the individuals are not really mindful that he exists. Next best is a pioneer who is adored. Next, one who is dreaded. The most noticeably terrible is one who is despised.†[7] As I have just referenced, I accept, that dread is a superior establishment for power than affection, yet now I might want to talk precisely of the ruler’s characteristics. To my assessment a ruler isn't to be positive or negative, he is to be sensible. What works great once can be not all that great next time. Fortune, or Tao as you call it, might change, so the best ruler is the person who handily adjusts to the circumstance and never freezes in his characteristics. The ruler needs to manage various individuals who have various wants thus it is not really workable for him to be same for all. A ruler has not to follow a perfect, however he is to be realistic[8]. You call upon rulers to let things occur as they happen when you state: â€Å"Center your nation in the Tao and fiendishness will have no force. Not that it isn’t there, yet you’ll have the option to step out of its way.[9]† Let me utilized a term which I am utilized to and consider Fortune that what you call Tao. I accept that this contention is feeble, in light of the fact that it expect that the nation is perfect. Also, shouldn't something be said about the nations which are not perfect and which are not in similarity with fortune? I would contrast her with one of those furious streams, which when in flood floods the fields, clearing ceaselessly trees and structures, bearing endlessly the dirt here and there; everything flies before, everything respect its brutality, without being capable in any capacity to withstand it; but, however its tendency be such, it doesn't follow along these lines that men, when the climate turns out to be reasonable, will not make arrangement, both with safeguards and boundaries, in such a way, that, rising once more, the waters may die by channel, and their power be neither so excessive nor so risky. So it occurs with Fortune, who gives her influence where valor has not se t up to oppose her, and yonder she turns her powers where she realizes that boundaries and barriers have not been raised to compel her[10]. So a ruler has to act so as to carry his territory to immaculateness and make it shielded even from Fortune itself. Let me finish up my humble letter by this. Expectation you were not exhausted while understanding it and you will think that its conceivable to answer my most unassuming composition. Case Conceptualization Thesis - 550 Words

Case Conceptualization (Thesis Sample) Content: CASE CONCEPTUALIZATIONNameInstitutionTutorDate IntroductionFor therapists to work them need to assume some things concerning the problems presented to them and the type of solutions available. These assumptions form the framework that binds the therapeuticprocess. Hence this allows the therapist to explore the dealings hence get involved at a level of relation instead of a symptomatic level. The do and the donts in a therapy room are dictated by the specific point of view taken by the therapist way before the start of the session.Person centered theory. Also known as psychotherapy, personal centered therapy was founded by Dr. Carl Rogers, an American psychologist (Kirschenbaum, 1979). In his book, On Becoming Carl Rogers, an autobiography of the founder of the theory, he supports the theory by citing exemplary research works by Carl Rogers. In a personal centered relationship the client is expected to slowly challenge the anxiety and confusion arising as aresultof sel f-concept and is challenged by movement into awareness of experiences which do not fit into its current configuration If that is achieved, the client can then move beyond the confusion and gradually to experience the freedom to choose a way of being which is more close to his or her deepest feelings and values. The therapist therefore focuses not on problems and solutions but on communion or a person to person relationship. (Boy and Pine, 1982). This book is a renewal on client centered counseling. This therapy has a number of theoretical assumptions with one being the persons image. In this case the therapist assumes that both he and his client can be trusted. This trust is based on the belief that all organisms including people have a fundamental and inborn drive towards the helpful achievement of its in-built potential. Recently, the person centered therapy has been critiqued by many who find the idea of trusting people to be over enthusiastic and inexperienced. However, Rogers tr ied to counter this critique by referring to a formative tendency in the world and citing some of the latest advances in biological science which denies the tendency towards lack of order and lack of improvement. Also, the person centered therapist focuses on the uniqueness of every individual and believes that the personality of people is so complicated that labeling persons even diagnostically can never be totally vindicated.Another assumption is the concept of psychological health and concern which is vital in person centered therapy and should be differentiated from self. This self-concept grows with time and highly depends on the approaches of the people who form the persons significant others. The need to be positively regarded or approved by others is overpowering and exists right from childhood. In this case, the therapist constantly works with people who are no longer in touch with the tendency to actualize within themand who are surrounded by many others who do not believe in the human capacity to strive for achievement of their full capabilities. It is worth noting that a person who functions at optimum is naturally creative since he or she adjusts to dynamic situations and is more likely to come up with creative ideas, schemes and engagements. The third assumption is that of psychological disturbance. The therapist notes that clients are not always aware of the disturbances of concern in them. ReferencesBoy A V, Pine G J (1982). Client-...

The Origins Of Species By Charles Darwin - 983 Words

After Charles Darwin published the Origins of Species, society began to turn away from religion and towards science to justify slavery and segregation by seeking out physiological and psychological differences between Blacks and Whites (Parks Heard, 2009). Physiologically, some Whites argued that black people were the missing link between apes and humans. Psychologically, others like Frances Galton proposed his theory of eminence, or the notion that certain abilities, many of them psychological in nature, could be inherited, just as physical characteristics are (Galton, 1892). In collecting data from 12 separate groups from well to do white men, Galton (1892) concluded that the most influential men had at least one influential relative and therefore, their successful positions in life were due to genetic eminence or a predisposition for a high social rank. Even though Galton (1892) ignored environmental influences that could shape eminence and intelligence, he attracted followers ev en more than a hundred years later. This includes Arthur Jensen, Charles Murray, and Richard Herrnstein and their theories that black people were an inferior race because their IQ scores are significantly lower than white people’s IQ scores (Jensen, 1969; Herrnstein Murray, 1994). Supporters of these theories, once again, latched on to tactics of dehumanization in order to justify black oppression without considering how this oppression shapes an individual’s mind and behavior. Beside this, the company also wants to cut down the in-house maintenance cost of the three offices. In order to do that, the company needs to use the payroll management in the cloud platform. Considering the current status and the needs of the company, it can be suggested that the PaaS (Platform as a Service) cloud model will be the best one for the company. This is the cloud deployment model, where the platform is given as the services to the users. In this deployment model, the company will be able to have the platform for the software development for the smart phones and tablets as well as the facility of handling the payroll management process of the whole company. The basic needs of the company will bet the computer system and internet connections. The PaaS cloud model will provide the facility of having the software development tools and IDEs over the cloud platform. This service will be a paid service to the cloud vendor for the platform depending on the requirements of the client organization. The cloud vendor will also provide a payroll management system for the company. The company will have a paid account in the cloud platform and through their unique log in id and password they will be able to log in the system and then perform the activities through any of the office locations. Impact on HQ, Sale and development staff from the proposal: The HQ of the company will be able to keep track of all the employees of the three offices in the cloud platform. The higher level of employees in the HQ will be able to have the knowledge of progress of the development and other activities of all the offices. The real time update will be available to all the offices of the company. The idea of the new development form the head quarter of Greentek will be stored in the cloud platform, where the developer team will start work. The hardware or software components of the companies are not required to be updated or changed as the requirement of the proposed cloud platform is the computer system and the high speed internet connection (Dinh et al., 2013). The offices of the company have these facilities in the respective office branches. However, in case of any shortage of primary memory or requirement of operating system, the company need to upgrade the respective systems. The developer office will be able to have the Xcode and Android Studio develop platform in the cloud. The developers will not be dependent anymore on the individual computer system and memory. The cloud development platform will always be available for the developers. They dont need to setup the systems for the development purpose. The setup platform will be in the cloud (Xu, 2012). The problem of managing the section wise development and merging those in a single file will be dissolve by the use of the cloud platform. The developers will share a single account of the company in which they will be able to merge the partial developed files of various developers. The sales team will check the developed software applications by the developers from the cloud in several phases. They may get the access of the system for checking the functions several times in the development phase. These will require the delivery of testable version of the software. This will help the developer to rectify the errors in the initial level. It will be easier to the company to follow the agile software development model in the development activities of the smart phone and tablet applications. Comparison of the available vendors: Greentek needs a cloud vendor which will provide the PaaS platform and support the Xcode and Android development activities. Five cloud vendors have been chosen for this purpose. The price and services of the vendors are analyzed in the table given below: Name of the Vendor Cost Features Google Cloud Platform https://cloud.google.com/appengine/ $ 4500 per year is required for the company. Google App Engine provides a platform forbuilding mobile applications. App Engine provides built-in services and APIs such asNoSQL datastores, memcache, and a user authentication API, common to most applications. App Engine willscale the application automaticallyin response to the amount of traffic it receives so the user only pay for the resources used. Just upload your code and Googlewill manage your app's availability. There are no servers for the users to provision or maintain. Amazon cloud services https://aws.amazon.com/mobile/sdk/ $ 5000 per year plan is required for Greentek. The AWS Mobile SDK helps the users build high quality mobile apps quickly and easily. It provides easy access to a range of AWS services, including AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Mobile Analytics, Amazon Machine Learning, Elastic Load balancing, Auto Scaling and more. The AWS Mobile SDK includes libraries, code samples, and documentation for iOS, Android, Fire OS, and Unity so the users can build apps that deliver great experiences across devices and platforms. Microsoft Azure https://azure.microsoft.com/en-in/develop/mobile/android/ $ 4000 per year is required for using the cloud service of Microsoft. Mobile Apps is a mobile backend solution and client SDK that allow developers to build rich mobile solutions. Mobile Apps is part of Azures App Service suite which means it can run within the same container as any related app services such as API Apps, Logic Apps, Web Apps and WebJobs. For serverless mobile backends you can use Functions. IBM cloud https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/mo-android-mobiledata-app/ $ 4000 per year is needed for using the IBM cloud service for the activities of the company. The first step of using the IBM cloud is to create a Mobile Cloud application on Bluemix then the users need to deploy the BlueList NodeJS application to Bluemix. The next step is to configure the front-end in the Bluelist sample. Then the users need to configure the back-end in the Bluelist sample. Then the users will also check the developed software applications in the cloud platform. Monaca cloud service https://monaca.io/cloud.html The platinum package of $780 per year. Unlimited online projects and 20GB storage. The company need to increase the storage. They need to use about 100 GB usage per year. Therefore, near about $3600 per year plan will be required for the company. IDE for the smart phone and tablet application is available in the platform provided by this vendor. The device testing facility is also available in this cloud platform. The testing team of the company will be able to test the developed software models in this platform. The cloud services provided by Monaca also provides the facility of publishing the developed applications in Google Play store and Apple App store. Information security features proposed by the vendors: Google data centre uses a layered security model. The physical security of the database centre is very high. Customized electronic safeguards are used for protecting the data of the users. All administrations are overseen through a secured worldwide API passage framework. This API serving foundation is just available over scrambled SSL/TLS channels, and each demand requires the incorporation of a period constrained confirmation token created by means of human login or private key based insider facts through the validation framework depicted previously (Google Cloud Platform, 2016). All entrance to Google Cloud Platform assets is controlled through the same strong verified framework that forces other Google administrations. This implies you can utilize existing Google records, or set up a controlled Google oversaw area. Highlights accessible when you are overseeing clients incorporate secret word arrangement authorized 2-calculate validation, and new development for confirmation imple mentation as equipment security keys. Cloud security at AWS is the most noteworthy need. As an AWS client, the user will profit by a server farm and system design worked to meet the prerequisites of the most security-delicate associations. Favorable position of the AWS cloud is that it permits clients to scale and advance, while keeping up a safe domain (Amazon Web Services, 2016). Clients pay just for the administrations they utilize, implying that the users can have the security they require, however without the forthright costs, and at a lower cost than in an on-premises environment. Conclusion: The company need to use the PaaS platform of the cloud computing where the platform for developing the smart phone and tablet applications will be available. The discussed deployment model will be the most effective one for the company. Five vendors are identified for the cloud services of the company. They are Google, Amazon, IBM, Microsoft and Monaca. All of these vendors are efficient enough in providing the cloud services to the commercial companies. The company can chose any of these depending on the discussed features, security aspects and costs of the services. References: Amazon Web Services. (2016).Amazon Web Services, Inc.. Soft drinks supply chain Essay Example

Soft drinks supply chain Paper At present time though, changes have already been made in the aforementioned Candler’s formula including. With corn syrup now used as a sweetener instead of sugar, its packaging also evolved with the changing demands of the consumers. Today, far from the original sodas of the drug store’s soda fountains, carbonated soft drinks are packaged for sale in various containers, such as aluminum or tin cans, plastic bottles, and glass bottles. The company also released a ‘New Coke’ formula on April 23, 1985, but it did not do well to those accustomed to the old Coca-Cola flavor so the old formula was reinstated. Coca-Cola’s success and popularity can be attributed to Asa Candler’s aggressive marketing of Coca-Cola. Together with Coca-Cola’s success, the demand for syrup sales increased. The company sells syrup to independent bottling companies which have been given license to sell the soft drink. Nowadays, Coca-Cola soft drinks that are being consumed each day rise up to 9 digit figures (Bellis, 2007). Pepsi-Cola In 1898, Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist in North Carolina, had a soda fountain in his drugstore. This is where he served his customers refreshing drinks: carbonated water mixed with medicinal and flavorful ingredients which he himself chose. What he termed as ‘Brad’s drink’ became his infamous drink in his soda fountain. The ingredients of the said drink were sugar, carbonated water, rare oils, pepsin, cola nuts and vanilla. He created the drink back in 1893 (Bellis, 2007). This particular concoction is to become ‘Pepsi Cola’ in 1898. It was renamed after the key ingredients, pepsin and cola nuts. In that same year, Bradham purchased from a competitor that went bankrupt the trade name ‘Pep Cola’ at the price of 100 US dollars. In June of 1903, the name Pepsi Cola was first introduced and trademarked. Business was successful until he gambled on the fluctuations of sugar prices during World War I resulting in the bankrupt of Pepsi Cola in 1923. The year 1931 saw to the transfer of Pepsi Cola ownership to the ‘Loft Candy Company’. The then company president Charles G. Guth changed the Pepsi Cola formula. However, this change made it difficult for Guth to make Pepsi Cola a winner in the industry so he resorted to selling Pepsi Cola to the Coca-Cola Company, but to no avail. 1940 saw to the creation of Pepsi Cola history because it was at that time when the first commercial jingle, entitled ‘Nickel Nickel’, was made and aired throughout the United States of America (Bellis, 2007). Like its competitor, Coca-Cola, changes were introduced in Pepsi Cola. In 1964, ‘Diet Pepsi’ was offered in the market. For over two hundred years, the art of producing carbonated beverages has developed resulting in its various forms that were intended to respond to the needs of its customers. Through its evolution, it has covered various economies of the nation’s industries as key sources of materials and services in the manufacturing of soft drinks. This meant that as the soft drink industry grew, the other industries in the soft drink supply chain grew as well. These industries in the supply chain are the manufacturers of artificial sweetening agent, edible acids, natural or artificial flavors, and other key ingredients that the industry needs in its manufacture of soft drinks. Machinery and packaging services also benefited from the soft drink industry’s success. In the face of the challenges of conforming to the ever changing needs of the customers throughout its history, the soft drink industry have introduced different packagings, from glass bottles with corresponding cork crowns, soft drink cartons called ‘Hom-Paks’ in the 1920’s, aluminum cans, plastic bottles and today, the use of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) bottles. Also together with these changes, the manufacturers of soft drinks amended their syrup mixture to surmount the rising cost of its key materials. Major changes were made on its sweetening agents to counter the rising cost of sugar and to conform to consumer’s approval. From Saccharin to Nutra-Sweet, now corn syrup replaced sugar as an ingredient to soft drinks.

Nelson Mondela Essays - South Africa, Xhosa People, Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mondela Essays - South Africa, Xhosa People, Nelson Mandela Nelson Mondela Mandela of South Africa Nelson Mandela became president of South Africa in 1994. He is the country's first black president. He was elected by the country's National Assembly. The Assembly had been chosen in South Africa's first elections in which the country's blacks were allowed to vote. Blacks won a majority of the Assembly seats, and the Assembly selected Mandela as president. These developments marked the beginning of a new era in South Africa. They resulted in blacks gaining control of the government after a long period of domination by the white minority. Since 1991, Mandela had served as president of the African National Congress (ANC), a largely black group that opposed the South African government's policy of rigid racial segregation called apartheid(Connolly 2000, 45). He had long been a leader of protests against apartheid and was imprisoned in 1962 on charges of conspiring to overthrow the white-minority government. While in prison, he became a symbol of the struggle for racial justice. After being freed in 1990, he led negotiations with white leaders that eventually brought an end to apartheid and established a nonracial system of government(Katz 1995, 103). Mandela and then-President F. W. de Klerk of South Africa won the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize. They were honored for their work to end apartheid and to enable the country's nonwhites to fully participate in government(Dell 1995, 180). Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born in Umtata, in the Transkei territory of South Africa. His father was a chief of the Xhosa-speaking Tembu tribe. Mandela gave up his right to succeed his father and instead prepared for a legal career. He attended the University College of Fort Hare, studied law by correspondence at Witwatersrand University, and received a law degree from the University of South Africa in 1942. That year, in Soweto, he and a friend opened the first black law partnership in South Africa(Conolly 2000, 99). Mandela joined the ANC in 1944 and helped form the organization's Youth League. In 1948, the South African government established its policy of apartheid. The ANC called for equality for all races and began leading open resistance to the government. In 1956, the government charged Mandela with treason and other serious crimes, but he was found not guilty in 1961. The government had outlawed the ANC in 1960, but Mandela renewed the protests and went into hiding. One night in 1963 Nelson and Winnie were awakened by the South African police.(Derenberg 1991, 104). The police took Nelson away to jail. . He was sentenced to life imprisonment. Nelson was sent to Robben Island. That was the state's most guarded prison, ships couldn't come near it. It was considered a prison that no one could escape from. In 1983 and 1984 headlines started saying things like FREE MANDELA and LET MANDELA GO. People wanted to free Nelson so much that the whole world started to notice. Soon the United States and Great Britain were naming streets and parks after him. Human rights groups and universities were giving him honors and awards(Conolly 2000, 155). In 1984 a reporter was allowed to see Nelson for the first time. Nelson was offered his freedom in 1985 by president Botha, but Nelson refused it. Botha said that in order to go free Nelson had to agree to a lot of conditions: he had to live in the transkei and formally reject violence, among others. Nelson refused(Steoff 1990 168). In 1989 F.W. de Klerk became the president of South Africa instead of Botha. In 1990 de Klerk made some amazing statements: The ANC and sixty other organizations would be allowed to operate legally. Restrictions on three hundred and seventy-four people would be lifted. There would be a temporary halt to executions. The national state of emergency would soon be lifted. The government was committed to implementing a new constitution with no domination. And I am now in a position to announce that Mr. Nelson Mandela will be released at Victor Verster Prison. . . . We would like Mr. Mandela's release to take place in a dignified and orderly manner(Derenberg 1991, 190). On Sunday the 11th of February 1990 at 4:15 Nelson Mandela was finally free. He had been in jail for 27 years. After leaving prison, Mandela

The Butcher of Milwaukee's Human Slaughterhouse Essay - 1

The Butcher of Milwaukee's Human Slaughterhouse - Essay Example The discovery that a man so confident, tidy, well mannered and clean was capable of such heinous murders, as well as cannibalism, would be a central aspect of this study. To investigate the motives and incentives that led a seemingly average man to indulge in a killing spree that lasted and went undetected for 13 years is what this essay will concentrate on. Furthermore, the analysis will be aided by the use of two theories that will scrutinize factors that have contributed to the crime in question and led to the constitution of Jeffrey Dahmer who came to be known as ‘the man who redefined serial murders’ by the Online criminologist. Â  According to Tru Crime Library, Detective Patrick Kennedy was the person who gained Jeffrey Dahmer’s trust and hence plummeted into the depths of his degeneracy. His killing spree of 13 years took root from fantasies about killing men and having sex with their corpses at the age of fourteen. By sixteen he had become an alcoholic with an intense interest in chemistry and dismembering animals. Research, as stated by Dr. Randall Lockwood (vice president of training and initiatives for the Humane Society of the United States), has found excessive links between animal cruelties in the early years of childhood to future serial killings. A common characteristic shared by serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, and David Berkowitz. Â  In June of 1978, right after graduation, Dahmer committed his first murder. Steven Hicks, a hitchhiker that he picked up, had sex with and then drank beer with was the first of his victims.

Low Life Expectancy in the Developing World Essay

Low Life Expectancy in the Developing World - Essay Example From this discussion it is clear that  life expectancy of different countries is different. Developed countries normally have better life expectancy because of the better care it provides to the wellbeing of its citizens. On the other hand, developing countries or underdeveloped countries cannot spend much on the health care sector and subsequently the people in these countries may have a low life expectancy compared to that in the developed countries. African countries are famous for low life expectancy not because of poor economy alone, but because of the life styles also.As the paper highlights  the increasing number of severe diseases is the major reason for low life expectancy.   AIDS, Heart attacks, cancer, stroke, high blood pressure, Cholesterol, diabetics are some of the major diseases which lowers the life expectancy of the developing world. Cancer is one of the major problems in the developing world.  Africa is a continent which is infamous for AUDS problems. Afric ans, have poor habits in their sexual life and they do not care much about the consequences while engage in unsafe sexual activities. â€Å"Sub-Saharan Africa is more heavily affected by HIV and AIDS than any other region of the world. An estimated 22.5 million people are living with HIV in the region - around two thirds of the global total†.  The African culture and life styles are major culprits for the increased AIDS problems in this region. Africans are fun loving people and they have the habit of unsafe sex.

Resistance of a Wire Essay Example for Free

Resistance of a Wire Essay Will changing the length and type of wire affect the resistance? What is my aim of this project: To set up an electric circuit to measure the resistance of the wire. What are my Variables:   Nichrome coil What is resistance? Resistance is measured in (OHMS). It is the hindrance to the flow of charge. Why did we get resistance? An electric current flows when electrons move through a conductor. The electrons that are moving can collide with the atoms of the conductor. This then means that it is more difficult for the current to flow, which causes resistance. On the other hand, electrons have a collision with atoms more often in a longer wire than they do in a short one, however, a thin wire has fewer electrons to carry the current than a thick wire. In a thin wire there is less space, but more resistance and in a long wire there is more space, yet less resistance. The flow of electrons: Hypothesis: Before I do my experiment I predict that the resistance in the wire will increase as the length of the wire increases. I also predict that if the resistance in the wire increases, then the thickness of the wire will decrease. My diagram of my circuit: For my first investigation task I will be doing a preliminary test to find out which are the best wires to use for my investigation. This task was completed and threw my results I realised that using the Nichrome would be better for my investigation. This is what was done before the main experiment. Preliminary test: Length Apparatus Test1 Test2 Test3 Test4 Average Resistance 10cm Ammeter   The graph shows that the data is positive.  From observing this graph above I can see that my data is close fitted along my line of best fit and that the data increases a lot, showing that this is a . as well as this there is s apiece of anomaly data, which is my outlier, circled in black. For my experiment, I will be taking account the differences in resistance between the different lengths of Nichrome wires. This will be tested against copper which, has a low resistance and high current and is thinner than the Nichrome wire that has high resistance and low current. Method. In order for me to complete my investigation, I will need to gather the equipment listed above and set up my electric circuit. This will be done by the use of connecting my wires to the volt meter and ammeter and then attaching crocodile clips on each ends of the wires. It is necessary for the wires to be in this position, as the crocodile clips play an important role in griping the coil firmly whilst the investigation takes place. After doing this I will cut the chosen coil to the measurement I desire. These measurements will be of 10cm, 20cm, 30cm, 40cm and 50cm. With these different measurements, I will attach the coil to the circuit to make it complete. Then, I will turn on the power pack and take down the readings from the voltmeter and ammeter, reading off the voltage and current. From these readings, I will calculate the resistance and average. My results from my readings will be presented in a table. With this experiment, I will keep all the equipment the same however my variables will be the type of wire, the length and the thickness. Repeating my test makes my investigation more reliable. Temperature is a factor that affects the resistance. For each reading I take I will switch off the power pack between each test, making my investigation much more reliable. Below are my table results for Nichrome wire Test (1) The wires length (cm) Voltage (V) Current (A) Resistance (? ) Below is my graph on my results From my line graph I created, I can see that my readings from each test were very alike for each time the experiment was being done. From looking at my results in the graph, there were no outliers. However, it also shows that my hypothesis predicted was correct, because the longer the wire was the more resistance there was it had a low current and a high resistance. Evaluation: I think my investigation worked well against my method and my hypothesis. I was able to complete my aim of this investigation, which enabled me to take down my readings of the current and voltage easily. I found the circuit easy to manipulate with no obstructions, which enabled me to record my results accurately for the resistance of the different lengths of wires. If I had the chance to re-do this project, I would have used a smaller current, because then I wouldnt affect the wires temperature in heating. This would then mean that it wouldnt affect the resistance of the wire being tested. As well as this I would use longer measurements of wire instead of just testing up to 50cm and test more different types of wires. Lastly, I feel that my experiment went well, which achieved its aim. Literary Essays :: Literature

In literary essays, students are exploring meaning and construction of a piece of literature. In a review students are discussing overall effect and validity of written work, while in a literary essay students are paying more attention to specifics. Students are taking a piece of writing and trying to discover how and why it is put together way it is. Students must adopt a viewpoint on work in question and show how details of work support their viewpoint. Like the novel, the essay is a literary device for saying almost everything about almost anything. By tradition, almost by definition, the essay is a short piece, and it is therefore impossible to give all things full play within the limits of a single essay. But a collection of essays can cover almost as much ground, and cover it almost as thoroughly, as can a long novel. Montaigne's Third Book is the equivalent, very nearly, of a good slice of the Comà ©die Humaine. Essays belong to a literary species whose extreme variability can be studied most effectively within a three-poled frame of reference. There is the pole of the personal and the autobiographical, there is the pole of the objective, the factual, the concrete-particular, and there is the pole of the abstract-universal. Most essayists are at home and at their best in the neighborhood of only one of the essay's three poles, or at the most only in the neighborhood of two of them. There are the predominantly personal essayist s, who write fragments of reflective autobiography and who look at the world through the keyhole of anecdote and description. There are the predominantly objective essayists who do not speak directly of themselves, but turn their attention outward to some literary or scientific or political theme. †¦ And how splendid, how truly oracular are the utterances of the great generalizers! †¦ The most richly satisfying essays are those which make the best not of one, not of two, but of all the three worlds in which it is possible for the essay to exist The research essay leads students into works of others and asks students to compare their thoughts with their own.

Policing in American Society

Policing in American Society Kathleen Kloos CJA 214 November 8, 2011 Douglas Edwards Policing in American Society The relationship between the U. S. government and all policing organizations throughout the U. S. is necessary because policing organizations cannot function without government support. Government provides support in the form of training, civilian staff, funding, corrections, and judicial support (Grant, 2008). Administrative support from the U. S. overnment can be seen by looking at the Office of the Coroner, which has the responsibility to investigate violent or suspicious deaths. This office determines cause of death and provides the proof of a homicide, or crime, to the law enforcement agency to pursue criminal charges. U. D. government changed their structure in regards to law enforcement and investigation after the events of September 11, 2001. Many departments and agencies became restructured to answer to either the Department of Homeland Security or the Department of Justice (Grant, 2008.The Department of Homeland Security oversees: Customs and Border Protection Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Transportation Security Administration (TSA) U. S. Coast Guard U. S. Secret Service The Department of Justice is in charge of: Drug Enforcement Administration Federal Bureau of Investigation Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives U. S. Marshals Service Federal Bureau of Prisons The relationship between the U. S. government and policing agencies can be described as co-dependent.Neither can exist without the other. Decisions handed down by the U. S. Supreme court dictate future police procedures. Cases such as Mapp v. Ohio, Miranda v. Arizona, and Fuhrman v. Georgia have changed the way police agencies investigate and charge offenders who eventually end up in prison. Police are no longer able to question a suspect without first advising the suspect of their Miranda rights (Miranda v. Ariz ona). Illegal search and seizure is no longer admissible in court (Mapp v. Ohio).Cruel and unusual punishment is no longer tolerated (Fuhrman v. Georgia) (AllGov, 2011). The criminal justice system exists by making each branch dependent upon the other. Police agencies investigate the crime, take custody of the suspect, recommend charges to be filed against the offender, then hand the case off to the judicial branch to adjudicate. Once the case has been tried, if the defendant has been convicted, or pled guilty, the corrections department takes over and makes sure the defendant serves his/her sentence. The impact of this relationship on American society insures that the citizens of this country feel safe. The impact shows criminals that society will not tolerate crimes against society. This relationship is a constant work in progress. Just like any relationship. References Gov, A. (2011). AllGov. The Nurture Assumption By Judith Harris - 2120 Words

Kathryn Riis Ap English Mrs. Baer 3 December 2014 Parents Do Matter Section 1: Introduction and Context: The nurture assumption by definition is the assumption that the way a parent raises a child has a long term effect on the child. In Judith Harris’ book, The Nurture Assumption, she argues against the nurture assumption and claims it is false. Now if that were true than what is the point of a parent even trying to communicate with their child? What’s the point of a parent trying to be a good role-model? What’s the point of a parent not abusing and mistreating their child? Each parent knows that their behavior, action, and the way they treat their child effects them in many ways, so because a parent normally wants what’s best for their child they tend to try and keep a good relationship with their child, try to be a good role-models, and restrain from mistreating their child. Harris points out the significant influence of genes and peers on a child’s personality and behavior, and she believes that these influences are greater than the influence of parents. While genes and peers do have a great effect on a child, there is no evidence that proves any of these three influences (peers, parents, and genes) are more influential than the other. Parents are generally the only people who are around their children during the first few years of their lives, which are considered the most influential years of a child’s life when it comes to early behavior, so someone could easilyShow MoreRelatedPersonality Development of Children: Who Matters More?1681 Words   |  7 PagesPersonality development of children: Who Matters More?
